Private flights to Coron, Palawan

Coron town sits on Busuanga, which is why the airport that serves it, Francisco B. Reyes, is a 30 to 45 minute road transfer from the wrecks and lagoons everyone flies in to see. Manila connects direct; getting here from the rest of Palawan is thinner — CebGo, Cebu Pacific's turboprop subsidiary, links El Nido on a limited schedule (check current timetables), and Puerto Princesa has no reliable scheduled service at all, which pushes most travellers onto the open-water ferry.

That ferry is the well-known El Nido–Coron crossing, four to five hours across the Linapacan strait, weather-dependent and often cancelled outright in the rainy months. A private aircraft covers the same distance in about 30 minutes, over the reefs and karst islands the boat spends its afternoon skirting. From Puerto Princesa the flight is about 75 minutes, against a routing that otherwise means backtracking through Manila or a full day by sea.

A private arrival here also means walking from the aircraft straight to a waiting van, rather than working through a terminal queue built for a busier scheduled service — and whatever you bring, dive gear included, travels with you instead of into a boat's hold.

Why fly to Coron

The case for flying here is strongest on exactly the leg where surface travel is worst: El Nido to Coron. A cancelled ferry sailing can strand a whole day of a short trip; a 30-minute charter is rarely disrupted the same way, and it turns a transfer day into a morning — a morning that, split across a group of four or five, often costs less per person than the alternative once a lost day and an extra hotel night are counted in.

The case for the ferry is cost and the experience itself — it is a scenic crossing in its own right, and for travellers with days to spare it is part of the Palawan trip rather than an obstacle to it. Charter earns its keep when the itinerary is short or the group is large enough to split the aircraft price, and it is worth checking the empty legs page too, since a repositioning aircraft can make this exact route unusually cheap on the right day.
